Projects In Liberia

Some of the equipment and materials sent to Kpaytuo and Yekepa, Nimba co. Liberia 2007

Orebro for Liberia has many ongoing projects in Liberia among them, Healthcare

delivery, education, farming and transport system, and home education for child soldiers and elderly women in the society that were not fortunate to get an education.

THE KPAYTUO HEALTH CENTER:

This health center was established in 1982 with the help of a Swedish surgeon who was then serving the Lamco J.V. Operating company in Buchanan. During the 14 years of bloddy civil war, the health center was severely damaged and plundered.

In 2006, after reading an article from the Webpage of the Royal Arm Forces of Sweden about the terrible health and other conditions in Liberia, we organised ourselves and the Örebro for Liberia organisation was established. Since then we have been involved in sending medical equipments and supplies to Liberia.

With the help of the Sweish UN contingent, we delivered two 20"containers to the

Kpaytuo health center and the Kpaytuo public school in June of 2006

KPAYTUO PUBLIC SCHOOL:

The Kpaytuo public shool needs educational material (instructional

materials-eg. pen, pencils, books, crayons, other stationaries etc)

The Orebro surplus center( overskottcentralen i orebro) headed by Mr.

Conte Dyrebrant has been very instrumental in providing some of these

materials for the Kpaytuo school, but much more needs to be done.

YEKEPA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL:

The Yekepa hospital was built by the Lamco J.V.Operating in the late 60s for the employees of Lamco and their dependents. The hospital also

served other none Lamco employee residents and the entire northeastern populance. It was upgraded in 1978 as a referal hospital.

After the closure of Lamco in 1989, some employees of the hospital

decided to keep the hospital running to meet the health needs of the

people.Few months later, the civil war that lasted for 14 years began and

hospital was plundered.

Our trip in June of 2006 to Liberia, Yekepa hospital benefited as some

of the equipment were delivered to the hospital to keep it running. We are greatful to our donors and the county council for the equipment and

supplies for Yekepa hospital.

Our needs now for Yekepa hospital are, X-ray Unit and or Ultrasound

unit. Please help us acquire one of the above to be able to properly

evaluate and diagnos our cases thus giving proper treatment to our patients.
